When you go to a museum there are basically two rules: 1) Try to look like you’re cultured 2) Don’t touch or destroy things. One guy was captured on video doing the latter, smashing a $1 million Ai Weiwei vase at a Miami museum as a form of protest.

According to reports, the vase dropper is 51-year-old Maximo Caminero, a local artist who destroyed the vase as a show of protest towards the museum’s preference towards featuring foreign artists.

Caminero faces criminal mischief charges that could land him up to five years in prison. He claimed he didn’t know the vase was 7,000 years old or worth such a substantial amount of money.

On the one hand, he’s a complete asshole for destroying something because his art isn’t good enough to get into this museum. On the other hand, it’s pretty badass that he got to destroy a $1 million vase and would only get five years for it. That implies his time is worth $200,000 a year, which is pretty high praise for a guy whose most prominent museum display had to be sadly cleaned up by a confused janitor.
