The best match of the season so far as Arsenal draw for a third consecutive time, finishing with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City. The visitors took the lead through Sergio Aguero, but the Gunners were the better team for most of the contest, grabbing the lead in the second half with fantastic goals by Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez before Martin Demichelis scored the late equalizer.

Danny Welbeck made his debut for Arsenal, playing in the lineup, just in front of Sanchez. He was dangerous in the first half, including a lob over Joe Hart that hit the post, but for the rest of the match wasn’t of much use. The same goes for Frank Lampard, starting in the Man City lineup, and looking quite a lot like you expect someone who is not too far from his 40th birthday.

This was a match of momentum phases. The early moments belonged to Arsenal, but Manchester City were always the more dangerous team, with quick passes and combinations when they were near the Arsenal goal. That kind of passing sequence resulted in the opening goal, as Sergio Aguero slipped into the box to connect with a cross from Jesus Navas.

Arsenal seemed stunned and in the early goings of the second half as well, but slowly things got better even without substitutions from Wenger. Ramsey and Wilsehre started pushing through the middle which made Alexis Sanchez look a lot more dangerous, and the equalizer came in the 63rd minute as a beautiful passing sequence ended up with a clever finish from Wilshere in front of Hart.

Arsenal were riding the momentum in that stage and a few minutes later Alexis Sanchez made it his third goal in three matches with some confusion in the Manchester City defense, not reacting to a looping header from Wilshere. Sanchez was onside and quite open to score from a volley, giving Arsenal the lead in the 74th minute.

Manchester City bounced back, with Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov entering to try and change the result. Of all people it was Martin Demichelis who got them an away point, heading a ball crossed by Kolarov from a corner.
