There’s something we often see throughout our lives but never really have the chance to discuss in detail: people getting tattoos in honor of their home state. People from Florida to Maine, from California to Alaska, from EVERYWHERE. These people get tattoos either in the shape of their home state or in some other sort of strange homage to land where they were birthed. And I’m wondering: why don’t we ever talk about these tattoos? Sometimes they’re incredible, other times they’re horrific.
You may or may not have noticed around here, but I post a disproportionate amount of content related to the state of Florida. I love my home state. It’s where I was born and raised, and I cherish all the ridiculously odd quirks about it. Earlier this week the whole BroBible editorial team got together for lunch and someone threw out ‘Hey Cass, when are you going to get a Florida tattoo?’ I’d be lying to you if I said the thought had never crossed my mind. I do know a few people with tattoos paying tribute to our hometown of Sarasota and the Sunshine State. At times I’ve looked at those tats and been a bit envious, but I still haven’t pulled the trigger and commemorated Florida on my body yet (and it’s not likely that I will).
But as we sat at lunch and discussed Florida tattoos I thought it would behoove my position as an editor to gather together the very best and the very worst tattoo for each of the 50 states. So from good ol’ Rocky Top on over to the City of Angels, here’s the best and worst tattoo from each of the 50 states.
