Al Horford celebrating with Hawks fans after hitting the game winning shot

An incredible finish was capped off by Al Horford scoring with 1.9 seconds remaining to give the Atlanta Hawks an 82-81 win over the Washington Wizards, taking a 3-2 lead in the conference semifinals.

The Hawks made a nice comeback in the fourth quarter, a lot of it coming from Horford’s shooting, hitting a 3-pointer from the corner, a mid range jumper and delivering a huge block on John Wall. But his big basket came seconds after Paul Pierce hit a 3-pointer that gave the Wizards and 81-80 lead, yelling at the Hawks’ bench after his big shot.

Dennis Schroder who played in the final minutes instead of Jeff Teague who insisted his backup point guard remain in the game because he was doing so much better, at least as far as leading the team is concerned, drove to the basket and missed. But Horford, the most clutch player in NBA playoffs over the last five seasons when it comes to the final five minutes, charged for the offensive rebound, knocked everyone out of his way and put the ball in the basket, leaving the Wizards no time to react.

The Wizards, now facing elimination, played with John Wall who did quite well, scoring 15 points to go with 7 assists. Paul Pierce, who flopped and yelled and screamed the entire game had an awful, 11 points, 3-of-9 from the field game. Beal led the Wizards with 23 points, getting only 9 points from their bench. Horford led the Hawks with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.
