A lot of times rookies at any position have to wait a little bit before getting a chance to play. But the Jacksonville Jaguars are so desperate for talent that T.J. Yeldon, a running back out of Alabama who was a second round pick in the 2015 NFL draft, will be their starter at the position next season.
Yeldon has been impressing at the OTAs and although these practices often don’t mean much, considering his numbers in college and how badly the Jaguars need a playmaker, it’s not too surprising to see Yeldon picking up a lot of compliments through his first days with the team.

Denard Robinson, a quarterback converted into a running back, was the team’s leading rusher last season with 582 yards. With more weapons for Blake Bortles to throw to as the Jags hope his development continues, Yeldon is expected to do more than Robinson last season. The Jaguars are trying to break out of what seems like and endless line of hopeless, terrible, depressing seasons. At some point things have to change for the better, don’t they?
Yeldon played three seasons for Nick Saban at Alabama, winning the national championship in 2012. He made two All-SEC teams during his time there, rushing for 3322 yards on 576 carries with 37 touchdowns in three years. He also caught 46 passes for 494 yards, and the Jaguars are planning to use quite a lot in the passing game, taking advantage of his height (6’2) and speed.
