It’s another NFL season starting, so that means memes coming out of every corner to make fun of Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins.
Remember 2012? Or 2013? It wasn’t always like this. Griffin was the number 2 pick in the draft. He was the offensive rookie of the year. Some started saying he’s the better choice compared to Andrew Luck.
But maybe he never bounced back from his injuries in the 2012 season. Maybe he was never that good and 2012 was a fluke year, his only season behind a competent offensive line. Whatever the reason was, Griffin has taken steps backwards since entering the league, starting at pretty much the highest point and declining rapidly ever since.
So this season he starts as a designated backup. That’s a new low for him, maybe one he’ll never recover from. The Redskins aren’t likely to re-sign him once the season is over, and it won’t be too much of a surprise if no one else around the league is interested in picking him up.
