In week 6 of the 2015 College Football Season one major upset occurred, as unranked and struggling Texas beat Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout, while Ohio State kept unimpressing and winning, TCU almost lost another point fiesta, this time to Kansas State, while Baylor poured on the points against poor Kansas. Michigan State and Utah, completing the top 5, had a less than easy weekend, but they managed to prevail.
Maryland (2-4) 28 #1 Ohio State (6-0) 49: Another less than smooth win for the Buckeyes, but the combination of Cardale Jones doing the passing and J.T. Barrett running for touchdowns paid off.
#2 TCU (6-0) 52 Kansas State (3-2) 45: TCU jumped to an early lead but got bombarded in the second quarter, falling 18 points behind. Trevone Boykin ran for two touchdowns himself and threw another one to “help” the Wildcats blow another huge halftime lead.
#3 Baylor (5-0) 66 Kansas (0-5) 7: No problems against one of the most pathetic programs in the nation, with Seth Russell throwing three touchdown passes.
#4 Michigan State (6-0) 31 Rutgers (2-3) 24: Chris Laviano, the Rutgers quarterback, for some reason spiked the ball on fourth down as the Scarlet Knights were charging down the field, and helped the Spartans get away with another ugly win.
#23 California (5-1) 24 #5 Utah (5-0) 30: The Utes are now the only undefeated team left in the Pac-12, pushed forward by Devontae Booker running for a season-high 222 yards and two touchdowns.
Georgia Tech (2-4) 24 #6 Clemson (5-0) 43: No problem for Clemson against a Yellow Jackets team that’s crashing and burning, Deshaun Watson throwing for two touchdowns and Wayne Gallman running for a couple.
#7 LSU (5-0) 45 South Carolina (2-4) 24: Leonard Fournette “only” ran for 158 yards and a touchdown as LSU took advantage of getting an extra home game thanks to the bad weather forcing the Gamecocks out of Columbia.
Arkansas (2-4) 14 #8 Alabama (5-1) 27: Arkansas couldn’t run the ball (only 44 yards) and Alabama finally shook off that tough defense in the second to outscore Arkansas 24-7 with two touchdown passes by Jake Coker and one run by Derrick Henry.
#10 Oklahoma (4-1) 17 Texas (2-4) 24: Beware the unranked Longhorn. The massive upset of the weekend as Texas run for 313 yards and getting a winning touchdown pass from non other than Tyrone Swoopes in a very successful cameo appearance.
#11 Florida (6-0) 21 Missouri (4-2) 3: Quarterback issues for Missouri continue as Florida allow just 257 yards of offense while running behind Kevin Taylor (two touchdowns) to remain undefeated.
Miami (3-2) 24 #12 Florida State (5-0) 29: A great game despite Miami not being able to run the ball. The Hurricanes took a 24-23 lead with 10:02 remaining, but Dalvin Cook, scoring his third touchdown of the game, ran the ball 23 yards to win it with 6:44 left on the clock.
#13 Northwestern (5-1) 0 #18 Michigan (5-1) 38: The Wolverines shutout another opponent, their third in a row, and during their five game winning streak have given up a total of just 14 points.
New Mexico State (0-5) 3 #14 Ole Miss (5-1) 52: Ole Miss closed out the game with 49 consecutive points to bounce back from a very tough loss against Florida that took the wind out of their sails.
Navy (4-1) 24 #15 Notre Dame (5-1) 41: A slow start and inconsistent play from quarterback DeShone Kizer were replaced by excellent running from C.J. Prosise, going for 129 yards and three touchdowns.
#19 Georgia (4-2) 31 Tennessee (3-3) 38: Not the marquee win Tennessee have been looking for all this time, but still against a ranked opponent, as Joshua Dobbs throws for 312 yards and runs for 118 more, accounting for five touchdowns.
#21 Oklahoma State (6-0) 33 West Virginia (3-2) 26: The Mountaineers lose to an Oklahoma team for the second straight week, unable to slow down Wendell Smallwood with 147 yards and a touchdown. J.W. Walsh scored the winning touchdown for the Cowboys in overtime.
Illinois (4-2) 22 #22 Iowa (6-0) 29: The Hawkeyes pull away from Illinois in the final quarter with two field goals by Marshall Koehn to remain undefeated.
Kent State (2-4) 7 #24 Toledo (6-0) 38: Phillip Ely threw two touchdown passes, Kareem Hunt ran for a couple and Terry Swanson for another one in another dominant team for the Rockets.
#25 Boise State (5-1) 41 Colorado State (2-4) 10: The Broncos jumped to a 17-0 lead and never looked back, as Jeremy McNichols reached 14 touchdowns this season by running for a couple.
Washington (3-2) 17 #17 USC (3-2) 12: Cody Kessler threw two interceptions and the Huskies defense stood firm in the fourth quarter to destroy some more championship hopes for the ever disappointing Trojans.
