On a day that mourned the death of Jose Fernandez, the Los Angeles Dodgers clinch their division with a walk off home run in the 10th inning, as the San Francisco Giants lose, but thank the Chicago Cubs for beating the St. Louis Cardinals to keep them in second place of the Wild Card Standings, topped by the New York Mets, exploding with 17 runs against the Philadelphia Phillies. In the American League, the Boston Red Sox can’t stop winning (10 in a row), while the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles remain on course for a wild card playoff game meet.

New York Yankees 3  Toronto Blue Jays 4: The Yankees scored, but still lost their fourth in a row, falling to 5.5 games behind the wild card spot. The Blue Jays were behind by two runs at the bottom of the ninth, but Ezequiel Carrera buted to tie the game, and Edwin Encarnacion hit a game winning infield single.

Chicago White Sox 3  Cleveland Indians 0: Second straight loss for the Indians, as a terrific Carlos Rodon performance shut them out. He pitched for 8 innings and struck out 11, enjoying run support from Carlos Sanchez with a couple of RBIs.

Kansas City Royals 12  Detroit Tigers 9: The Tigers fall to 1.5 games behind the Orioles and the Wild Card ticket, as a wild game included Matt Boyd starting for Detroit but not getting a single out before being replaced. The Royals hit 3 home runs, including number 22 this season for Salvador Perez.

Philadelphia Phillies 0  New York Mets 17: Simply wow. Robert Gsellman got the win in the shutout win, but the story was the hitting: Asdrubal Cabrera hit a grand slam home run, Jose Reyes added 4 RBIs and Curtis Granderson hit his 30th homer of the season as the Mets continue to lead the NL Wild Card standings.

Boston Red Sox 3  Tampa Bay Rays 2: Another narrow win for the Sox, their 10th in a row. The win came in the 10, as Dustin Pedroia took advantage of an error and danced his way around the out to score the winning run.

Arizona Diamondbacks 1  Baltimore Orioles 2: Third straight win for the Orioles, getting an early two-run homer from Hyun-Soo Kim which was enough for them, enjoying a solid 5 innings from Dylan Bundy.

Washington Nationals 10  Pittsburgh Pirates 7: Benches clearing made this meaningless game interesting, with Anthony Rendon and Jayson Werth standing out for the Nationals, getting two RBIs each.

Cincinnati Reds 4  Milwaukee Brewers 2: Brandon Finnegan shutout the Brewers for 5 innings before taking a seat. Adam Duvall and Brandon Phillips hit RBIs in the first innings, enough for the win to rest on.

Seattle Mariners 4  Minnesota Twins 3: Two home runs from Nelson Cruz (41 this season) keep the Mariners in the playoff picture, 2.5 games behind.

Los Angeles Angels 1  Houston Astros 4: Evan Gattis, Tyler Kemp and Tyler White each hit solo home runs for the Astros, while Joe Musgrove took care of business from the mound through 7 efficient innings.

Texas Rangers 1  Oakland Athletics 7: The Rangers don’t sweep the A’s, giving up 7 runs in the second inning, including Ryon Healy hitting a two-run homer. Jharel Cotton, 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA, pitched will for 7 innings, striking out 5 while giving up 3 hits.

Colorado Rockies 3  Los Angeles Dodgers 4: The Dodgers clinch the division again, winning on clutch home runs: A ninth inning game-tying hit by Corey Seager, and winning on a walk off homer by Charlie Culberson.

San Francisco Giants 3  San Diego Padres 4: Another awful outing for the Giants, barely holding on to their wild card spot. The Padres win in the 7th inning thanks to an RBI single by Wil Myers, erasing the 3-1 lead the Giants had.

St. Louis Cardinals 1  Chicago Cubs 3: The Cardinals remain 0.5 games behind the Giants and out of the playoff picture, struggling against Jon Lester and Aroldis Chapman, while David Ross hit an early home run to set the tone, with the Cubs winning game number 99.
