Fear the Texas Rangers lineup they said. Cole Hamels is clutch in the postseason they said. The Toronto Blue Jays listened, ignored, which resulted in a one sided game 1, and plenty of memes making fun of it.

The big star of the game was Marco Estrada, two outs away from a complete game and a shutout, but ended giving up one run in the 10-1 win. Jose Bautista, mocked before the game for getting punched by Rougned Odor in the regular season game, had the last laugh, like in last year’s postseason, with another home run.

The big loser? Cole Hamels, who didn’t last very long. The Blue Jays were up 7-0 very quickly in this game, which silenced the fans at Arlington, giving us a bizarre playoff game, which seemed to be decided before everyone were set in their seats.

In baseball, a lot of these things often mean, well, nothing. But maybe it means the Rangers walked in a little bit too confident into this series, and the ghosts from last year’s disappointment will soon be coming back to haunt them.
