Team Chaos arrived in full capacity to wreak havoc during week 11. Alabama won their game with ease, but Clemson, Michigan and Washington were all beaten dramatically, while four more ranked teams lost their games. It didn’t change the conference championship outlook too much in the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12, but it does put other teams on alert and opens up the possibilities of the College Football Playoff selections.
Mississippi State (4-6, 2-4) 3 #1 Alabama (10-0, 7-0) 51: The boring run of Alabama to the title continues, this time as they outgained the Bulldogs by 340 yards while Jalen Hurts threw four touchdown passes and ran for another. With the win and Auburn’s loss, Alabama clinched their spot in the SEC championship game.
Pittsburgh (6-4, 3-3) 43 #2 Clemson (9-1, 6-1) 42: Clemson lose their first ACC game since November 15, 2014, blowing an 8 point lead in the final quarter. First it was James Corner running 20 yards for the touchdown, followed by Chris Blewitt hitting a 48-yard field goal with 6 seconds remaining.
#3 Michigan (9-1, 6-1) 13 Iowa (6-4, 4-3) 14: While this season hasn’t been like the previous one for the Hawkeyes, they do get to have one signature win over a top 5 team, ruining Michigan’s undefeated run with a Keith Duncan field goal as time expired. Michigan have now lost four in a row at Iowa City.
#20 USC (7-3, 6-2) 26 #4 Washington (9-1, 6-1) 13: Incredible that the Trojans have won again, and now put Washington in a position that might leave them out of the Pac-12 title game, trailing Washington State in the north division. The Huskies were held to just 276 yards, with USC doing a better job of overcoming their own mistakes.
#5 Ohio State (9-1, 6-1) 62 Maryland (5-5, 2-5) 3: An incredible performance by the Buckeyes, who now have a 3-way tie with Michigan and Penn State on top of the Big Ten East. J.T. Barrett had a big day, throwing two touchdown passes and rushing for two more, as Maryland were held to just 176 yards.
Wake Forest (6-4, 3-3) 12 #6 Louisville (9-1, 7-1) 44: Louisville got the slip they needed from Clemson, but they need another one. Meanwhile, they leaned on Brandon Radcliff for a change, scoring 3 touchdown runs while Lamar Jackson settled for one touchdown throw.
Illinois (3-7, 2-5) 3 #7 Wisconsin (8-2, 5-2) 48: The Badgers remain on pace to win the Big Ten west with a dominant win over the Illini, led by Corey Clement and 3 rushing touchdowns, also going for 123 yards.
Ole Miss (5-5, 2-4) 29 #8 Texas A&M (7-3, 4-3) 28: The Rebels pulled off a big comeback in the end, with Shae Patterson throwing a touchdown pass to put Ole Miss within a field goal of the win, getting it with 37 seconds to go and holding on for the win.
#9 Auburn (7-3, 5-2) 7 Georgia (6-4, 4-4) 13: The Deep South’s oldest rivalry doesn’t fail to deliver on drama, as Georgia won with defense and special teams, not scoring a single offensive touchdown. Their TD came from Maurice Smith, scoring on a pick-six interception. The rest came from field goals.
#10 Penn State (8-2, 6-1) 45 Indiana (5-5, 3-4) 31: The Nittany Lions ran into some trouble against the Hoosiers, but a touchdown by Saquon Barkley and a fumble return touchdown by Torrence Brown with 29 seconds left sealed the deal in their favor, to keep their Big Ten championship game hopes alive.
Baylor (6-3, 3-3) 24 #11 Oklahoma (8-2, 7-0) 45: Baylor are falling apart, as the Sooners ran all over them to remain perfect in the Big 12. Bake Mayfield threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns, and also running for one of Oklahoma’s four rushing touchdowns.
#12 Colorado (8-2, 6-1) 49 Arizona (2-8, 0-7) 24: The Buffaloes are still on pace to win the Pac-12 South, holding off Utah and USC and have two home games to finish the season. Sefo Liufau threw three touchdown passes and ran for one, Phillip Lindsay ran for 3 touchdowns.
Texas Tech (4-6, 2-5) 44 #13 Oklahoma State (8-2, 6-1) 45: And the one team that can stop the Sooners seem to be the Cowboys. Mason Rudolph threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Red Raiders tried to pull some magical comeback in the final quarter, falling short by two minutes and one point.
Georgia Tech (6-4, 3-4) 30 #14 Virginia Tech (7-3, 5-2) 20: Turnovers kill the Hokies again, falling behind 20-0 before making a game out of it. The Yellow Jackets ran for 309 yards, getting two touchdowns from Matthew Jordan.
#15 Utah (8-2, 5-2) 49 Arizona State (5-5, 2-5) 26: The Utah defense got 11 sacks, making things quite impossible for Manny Wilkins. Meanwhile, Troy Williams threw four touchdown passes and Joe Williams ran for two scored and 181 yards, as the Utes are trying to keep up with Colorado.
#16 West Virginia (8-1, 5-1) 24 Texas (5-5, 3-4) 20: The Mountaineers defense carries them through the day in Austin, not letting Skyler Howard’s 3 interceptions ruin their day. Kennedy McKoy had a big day with two rushing touchdowns.
#17 North Carolina (7-3, 5-2) 27 Duke (4-6, 1-5) 28: Duke get their first conference win against their hated rivals, winning thanks to Daniel Jones tossing a two-yard touchdown pass to Davis Koppenhaver with two minutes left in the game. Luckily for UNC, Virginia Tech lost too.
Boston College 7 (4-6, 1-6) 7 #18 Florida State (7-3, 4-3) 45: Dalvin Cook ran for 108 yards and a touchdown, while both Deondre Francois and Sean Maguire combined for five touchdown passes in the easiest win the Seminoles have had in the ACC this season.
Minnesota (7-3, 4-3) 17 #19 Nebraska (8-2, 5-2) 24: The Cornhuskers hold Minnesota on 0 points in the second half, coming back from 7 points down to win on a 13-yard touchdown run by Tommy Armstrong, staying one loss behind Wisconsin in the Big Ten West.
#21 Western Michigan (10-0, 6-0) 37 Kent State (3-7, 2-4) 21: Just another midweek success for the Broncos, relying on a big running day (329 rushing yards), including Jarvion Franklin rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Zach Terrell didn’t do a great job of putting the ball in the air, but ran for a touchdown.
#22 Boise State (9-1, 5-1) 52 Hawaii (4-7, 3-4) 16: The Broncos led 45-3 before easing up, led by Brett Rypien and four touchdown passes, while Jeremy McNichols had a big day of 153 rushing yards and a couple of scores on the ground.
California (4-6, 2-5) 21 #23 Washington State (8-2, 7-0) 56: The Cougars have a difficult finish to the season against Colorado and Washington, but it’ll all come down to their in-state rivalry with the Huskies to decide the Pac-12 North. Luke Falk threw five touchdown passes as WSU won for the 8th time in a row.
#24 LSU (6-3, 4-2) 38 #25 Arkansas (6-4, 2-4) 10: This is probably the last time the Razorbacks will be ranked this season. LSU had no problem bouncing back from their loss to Alabama, led by 3 touchdown runs from Leonard Fournette.
