In week 9 of the 2016 NFL Season, the red hot Dallas Cowboys will try to avoid losing to the only team without a win, the Cleveland Browns. In the AFC North, the hatred between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers should provide plenty of fireworks and hopefully some good football. Good football is promised in the AFC West battle of titans, as the Denver Broncos will try to show their defense has no problem stifling Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders.
Here are our thoughts on the 13 games in week 9:
- The Falcons visiting the Buccaneers has a shot at being a very high scoring game, but considering the inconsistency of Jameis Winston this season while Matt Ryan is putting up MVP numbers, Atlanta look good for the win
- Can the Browns, still without a win, stop the Dallas Cowboys, who are on a six-game winning streak? Cleveland has played some teams close, but it’s just hard to see them making a mess of the Cowboys season
- Steelers @ Ravens is always smashmouth from start to finish. Considering how poorly Joe Flacco has played this season and Ben Roethlisberger questionable for the game, it might be an “ugly” one from start to finish too
- The Jaguars seem to be one loss away from finally giving up on their head coach, but the questions surrounding Alex Smith could leave the Chiefs vulnerable, especially if they give up early points
- The Jets are suddenly winning, but they’re far from the playoffs at the moment. The Dolphins have realized that running the ball works wonders for them and even Ryan Tannehill. It’ll be interesting to see which teams is less afraid to lose
- Per tradition, the Eagles own the Giants on an annual basis. However, Carson Wentz is hitting some sort of rookie wall, and the Giants seem to be figuring out what didn’t work for them earlier. This promises an ‘anything can happen’ games
- Speaking of anything can happen, we have the Lions at 4-4, against a Minnesota Vikings team that looks vulnerable all of a sudden. It’ll be interesting to see how a new offensive coordinator works out for the Vikings, coming off two consecutive losses
- The Carolina Panthers have finally won a game, but it doesn’t mean they’re in the clear. The Los Angeles Rams suck offensively but have the kind of defense that can really make life difficult for Cam Newton, how is frustrated enough already
- At the moment, the 49ers seem just as bad if not worse than the Browns. Drew Brees isn’t the same quarterback on the road compared to what he does at home, but the Saints are good enough to not become a joke by losing to the Niners
- The Titans are one of the more straightforward teams in the league, running the ball as much as possible behind a very good offensive line. But against the Chargers, it might not be enough if Philip Rivers is having a good day
- Giving Andrew Luck more touches and decisions to make hasn’t helped the Colts in the big picture; they’re just too flawed of a team. Their deficiencies should show glaringly in a visit to Green Bay to face the Packers
- A true test for Derek Carr and the Raiders offense, as they face the Denver Broncos in Oakland, a game for the lead in the AFC West
- Monday Night Football presents the battle between the Bills, humbled after losing to the New England Patriots, and the Seattle Seahawks, a team with a talented quarterback and great defense, but a terrible offensive line which helps makes things even
