A week after being meme heroes, the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers feel the other end of the stick, getting brutally knocked out of the playoffs by Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons.
Rodgers and the Packers came into Atlanta with sky high confidence following their last second win over the Dallas Cowboys. But turns out facing the best scoring offense in the NFL is a completely different experience, as Ryan and his enormous amount of offensive weapons sliced and diced through the Packers defense, while Rodgers couldn’t find open receivers. He was under a lot more pressure than usual; this wasn’t a case of Rodgers being let down by his teammates.
This was nice way to say goodbye to the Georgia Dome, as the Falcons, in their first playoff appearance in four years, rectify their home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in that stadium. It’s the second time the Falcons will head to the Super Bowl, hoping to enter the new chapter of this franchise with their first ever trophy.
Ryan has had better games, but he has never plays this well on such a big stage. The 9-year veteran used the entire wealth of his offensive weapons, from the unstoppable Julio Jones to his speedy and difficult to stop wide receivers. The next team he faces has the brains behind it to come up with a plan to stop anyone and anything. But against the Falcons offense, even that might not be enough.
