The Internet has been sort of iffy on the Man of Steel sequel since it was announced that Ben Affleck would play Batman in the film, teaming up with/battling Henry Cavill’s Superman. And now there’s another reason they’ll be mad: The film has been delayed until 2016.
Man of Steel studio Warner Bros buried the announcement over Martin Luther King weekend, declaring that the film was put on hold to give “filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”
Better known as the dreaded “creative differences” — and a genuine fear of Disney’s 2015 movie slate of the new Avengers film plus the new Star Wars movie.
Forbes reports that the creative team isn’t fully aligned as to the purpose of the movie; is it just a sequel to last year’s hit film or is it more focused on setting up the big-money Justice League movie that’s been rumored for years?
Either way, now it’ll take two years to find out what the movie’s all about. The new release date for the still-untitled Batman/Superman crossover film is May 6, 2016.
