Tottenham beat Chelsea e1420140725477 Match Highlights Tottenham vs Chelsea

There’s a new number one in the Premier League as Chelsea now share the top spot after losing for the second time this season, beaten 5-3 by a surging Tottenham side displaying their best football since Mauricio Pochettino took over as manager.

Chelsea took the first lead, opening with a Diego Costa strike. But the Brazilian striker soon began wasting his time with his usual scuffles and brutish behavior that under different, more observant referees would have earned him a red card. Tottenham equalized with a brilliant Harry Kane goal, and went on to blitz Chelsea in the final 15 minutes of the first half.

The result? Danny Rose taking advantage of the falling apart defense with a goal in the 44th minute following a brilliant pass from Christian Eriksen, and a penalty kick four minutes later (Gary Cahill with the foul), converted by Andros Townsend.

The second half began with another Harry Kane goal, emerging as a huge superstar that Spurs are hoping they actually manage to hang on to this time. Eden Hazard pegged on back, Nacer Chadli gave Spurs a three goal lead again and John Terry scored in the final minutes to make the score look a bit more respectable.

With the win, Tottenham move up to fifth, two points behind Southampton, having a one point advantage over Arsenal and two points above West Ham. They’ve been shaky all through the first half of this season, but maybe after almost a year of trying to return them to Champions League worthy form, Pochettino has found his winning formula.
