David Johnson

It’s always a happy occasion for teams when a rookie impresses in a preseason game, as David Johnson stole the show from anyone else on the Arizona Cardinals, including Carson Palmer who didn’t get too much time on the field, understandably.

Johnson rushed 13 times for 66 yards in his first appearance in the preseason, coming from Northern Iowa in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft.

Palmer wasn’t bad in his few moments, throwing one touchdown pass to John Brown.

In the end, the San Diego Chargers won the game 22-19 thanks to Josh Lambo (another rookie) kicking a game winning field goal while the defense got six first half sacks. Philip Rivers sat this one out.

Another player who sat the game out was Chris Johnson, the recent signee for the Cardinals at running back.

Logan Thomas, trying to keep his third-string quarterback job, failed to complete a pass in four attempts. Phillip Sims, the undrafted rookie out of Winston-Salem State, looks like the more likely of the two to get a job in the regular season.
