Kelvin Benjamin

Instead of giving a follow up to an excellent rookie season, Kelvin Benjamin of the Carolina Panthers is going to spend the 2015 NFL season rehabbing from a torn ACL.

The second-year wide receiver who caught 73 passes for 1008 yards and nine touchdowns last season won’t be with the Panthers in 2015, after tearing his ACL during a practice routine with the Miami Dolphins. Benjamin made a regular cut in a one on one with Dolphins safety Reshad Jones.

With Benjamin out for the season, the most likely man to take his place on the Panthers’ depleted wide receivers list and become Cam Newton’s number one option is Devin Funchess, a rookie out of Michigan who is also a big target like Benjamin, but currently injured with a hamstring pull.

The Panthers have been one of the worst passing teams in the league these last two years despite making the playoffs. Cam Newton got a massive extension this offseason, but will now be facing another season with another problem at the position that is supposed to help him look better.
