Eric Rowe

A second round pick, cornerback/safety Eric Rowe out of Utah is impressing the Philadelphia Eagles so much in training camp he might end up starting for them very soon.

His latest appearance as a starter in practice, playing the slot corner position, has been on par with his progress playing on the inside, looking better and more adapted to the NFL (at least on the practice, preseason level) with every time he’s out there on the field.

The Eagles traded Brandon Boykin to the Steelers earlier this month, and since then the spot has been a revolving door and ground for experiments, looking for the one who can fill in for Boykin. Rowe, a rookie, has been the best of the bunch “trying out” for the job.

His ability to play a number of positions in the secondary might be the winning to touch in convincing Bill Davis this is the guy for him in the middle of the field, covering slot receivers and in other roles.
